Forecasting the Conditional Probability of Frozen Precipitation.

Abstract

Equations for forecasting the conditional probability of frozen precipitation have been developed for 186 stations using a logistic function model. The independent variables are three variables predicted by the National Meteorological Center's Primitive Equation model, 1000-500 mb thickness boundary layer temperature, and 850 mb temperature. The forecasts have been made operational by the National Weather Service. (Author)
