Optimization of Retirement and Compensation for Military Service. Senior Officers.

Abstract

The study determines if there is a set of economic incentives which tend to influence Senior Service College (SSC) graduates to retire with less than thirty years of military service. The report is concerned with the impact of early retirement from the viewpoint of an individual who is seeking to maximize the expected return from his military and civilian pay. The existing military retirement system and civilian economic opportunities are examined. (Modified author abstract)
