An Analysis of the Army's Logistics Officer Program During a Period of Refinement.

Abstract

The paper traces the historical development of the Logistics Officer Program (LOP) since its inception in 1966 to the present date. It points out the strengths and weaknesses of the program in pursuit of its objective of identifiying and developing commissioned officers for assignment to important logistics positions throughout the DA and the DOD. Coverage is devoted to current actions by the DA to improve the LOP and the possible future direction of the program is discussed. (Modified author abstract)
