Failure of Intramolecular Reaction Systems.

Abstract

Singlet methylene free radicals were used to chemically activate a series of alkyl fluorocyclopropanes with alkyl side chain of increasing size, CF3, C3F7, C5F11. Failure of intramolecular energy randomization on a short time scale is demonstrated and the internal relaxation time is given. (Modified author abstract)
