Golomb recently suggested a method for the optimal numerical solution of linear boundary-value problems which leads to approximations which are certain Lg-splines. The purpose of the paper is to apply a factorization method for constructing general Lg-interpolating splines to produce convenient algorithms for Golomb's method. The resulting numerical method seems to exhibit a localized error behavior which makes it especially useful for stiff initial-value problems. Numerical examples are included. (Author)
