Detection of Vehicle Exhaust/Petroleum Vapors

Abstract

The report describes the results of a literature search and investigation to determine (a) the trace quantities of vehicle exhaust products (including fuel additives) present in the atmosphere near vehicles and (b) hydrocarbon and petroleum vapors in the atmosphere due to any source. The object of the study was to determine specific compounds present, the quantities present, techniques for detecting these trace compounds and equipment presently commercially available for this purpose.
