Gasdynamic and Kinetic Phenomena in Chemical Lasers.

Abstract

The report summarizes the first year of a research effort to gain an improved understanding of the importance of gasdynamic and kinetic phenomena in chemical lasers. A survey of gasdynamic phenomena in chemical lasers was prepared and presented at the Fourth International Colloquim on Gasdynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems, July, 1973, at La Jolla. The remainder of the activity, summarized in this report, comprised a study of rotational relaxation kinetics as they influence saturation and preparation of a bibliography on the optical properties of HF and DF. More general gaskinetic theories and possible reasons for interest in them with application to chemical lasers are also discussed. (Author)
