Night Observation Device, Medium Range (AN/TVS-4) Extended Range Objective Lens Test Report.

Abstract

The Night Observation Device, Medium Range (NODMR) (AN/TVS-4) Extended Range Objective Lens Test was conducted at Fort Hood, Texas, from 4 September to 4 October 1973. The test was conducted to determine the military potential and system applications of the AN/TVS-4 when configured with the Extended Range Objective Lens (EROL) (AN/TVS-4 (EROL)). One AN/TVS-4 (EROL) was provided for the test. It did not demonstrate an appreciable increase in capability in target detection when compared to the AN/TVS-4 equipped with biocular viewer. The system was very reliable and required minimum operator training and maintenance. (Author)
