NARAL Clutter and Propagation Experiments.

Abstract

3-333*Radar signals, Scattering, Radar clutter, Troposphere, Ionospheric propagation, Ground level, Aurorae, RainAn experimental program that yields basic propagation and clutter data, using the NARAL radar (and other RADC high performance radars) is described. The resultant data can be used to determine the environmental limits to the capability of high performance radars. A collection of experiments which provide the data required to determine these environmental limitations, is presented. These experiments are of three categories: (1) Tropospheric; (2) Ionospheric; and (3) Ground and Miscellaneous Scatter. Each experiment contains the pertinent analysis and experimental requirements, and a description of the basic concept. (Modified author abstract)
