Beam Heating in 'Plasma Focus',

Abstract

High-speed interferometric methods are used in this paper to show that the formation of powerful electron beams, which are subjected to hose instability and to focusing in a plasma, occurs during the terminal stage in plasma focus. The abnormal scattering of diagnosing laser radiation and the powerful roentgen radiation of a plasma from the beam focusing area indicate the development of double-beam instability and intense plasma heating in this region. This explains the basic neutron burst of this set-up.
