Mixing of Gas and Air Jets in Jet Engines,

Abstract

At the current state of engine development, an improvement in specific consumption or an increase in thrust concentration can be obtained only with relatively great effort, e.g. by improving partial efficiencies and increasing the turbine inlet temperature by using better blade materials and introducing more efficient cooling techniques. Jet mixing is a relatively simple matter and results in a remarkable improvement in efficiency. By means of the gas-dynamic energy transport in jet engines, the noise of the dischanged gas jets can be abated. (Modified author abstract)
