Organizational Structures for Constant Resolution Earth Data Bases.

Abstract

Alternative organizational Earth data base structures to accommodate remotely sensed meteorological, oceanographic, and environmental measurements made from spaceborne instruments were investigated. Operating capabilities include constant, but selectable, geometric resolution; updating in place; direct access to local geographic areas; and retrieval of areas by serial bit strings. Two organizational structures were identified as data base candidates. (Author)
