An Improved ASW Simulation Model.

Abstract

Previous research demonstrated conclusively that significant improvements could be realized in existing ASW simulation models with the use of variance reduction schemes and improved random number generation procedures. Included in the report is a description of the modifications made to the program, along with supplemental user documentation and a program listing. Most significant improvements realized were: Implementation of the capability to accomplish variance reduction (using antithetic variates and correlation); improved random number generation (including a machine independent random number generator for uniform random numbers and a faster normal random deviate generator); and, approximately a 25% reduction in core storage requirements for the COMTHRDFLT version of the APAIR.
