Evaluation of Runway Skid-Resistance Characteristic at Kincheloe AFB, Michigan.

Abstract

Data gathered during the Air Force Weapons Laboratory (AFWL) standard skid-resistance test conducted at Kincheloe AFB, Michigan, on 12 October 1972 are analyzed. The test results indicate the skid-resistance properties of the pavement surface at Kincheloe AFB could be rated only fair. The pavement surface was considered borderline and hydroplaning could occur, depending on circumstances encountered. Rubber removal was required on the 33 end of the runway at the time of the test.
