3-TO-1 Data Compression Via Walsh Transform.
Abstract
Naval Electronics Laboratory Center (NELC) has emulated a Walsh transform source encoder. This data compression technique has given three-to-one compression while maintaining good image fidelity. A digital frame capture unit (DFCU) is used to digitize images into a format suitable for processing on a digital computer. The encoder is emulated with a digital computer program that processes the digitized images. These processed images can then be displayed on the TV monitor of the DFCU for evaluation. Greater compression is feasible. (Author)
