Some Two-Dimensional Problems in Fracture Mechanics.

Abstract

The author's initiation to fracture mechanics through Dr. G. R. Irwin and his guidance in subsequent developments are illustrated through two-dimensional problems in fracture mechanics. These problems include the M sub k factor for deep surface flaw, Dugdale yield strip for a slanted crack in a tension plate, crack in a stringer reinforced tension plate, crack branching, and crack curving.
