A Review of the X-22A Variable Stability Aircraft and Research Facility
Abstract
The variable stability X-22A aircraft and associated research facilities represent a unique capability to perform V/STOL flying qualities research. The demonstrated fix-operating point capabilities of the aircraft's variable stability system are reviewed, and the recent extension of these capabilities for hover and transition is documented in detail. The report also contains summary descriptions of the ground simulator facility, the X-22A aircraft systems, and data processing and analysis procedures.
