Analog Pressure Transducer.

Abstract

The report describes the results of a comprehensive study to design, fabricate and test an analog resistance readout pressure transducer for dropsonde application. A laboratory model was built and tested, with results generally within the plus or minus 2-millibar range. The device was insensitive to magnetic fields, and noise emission was well within that allowable for dropsonde pressure sensors. Four prototype models were then built and tested again with results within the plus or minus 2-millibar range. For these models, an AN/AMT-12 pressure capsule was selected for performance, and the contact diameter had a radius large enough to prevent bearing strength failure. It is recommended that additional models be built and tested in dropsondes. (Author)
