Everyday Civil Defense in the USA (A Comparison of the USA and USSR Preparedness).

Abstract

The essay compares the United States preparedness with that of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic's (USSR) by presenting the shelter situation and public education in both countries. This essay points out that United States is behind USSR in these two areas of civil defense. The study includes recommendations to improve civilian knowledge and civilian protection in United States with the idea in mind of reducing the number of casualties in case of a massive nuclear attack.
