Review and Approval of Army Manpower Requirements During Vietnam War

Abstract

The essay examines the review and approval processes for Army manpower requirements in Vietnam established in 1966 by the Secretary of Defense. An analysis has been made of the processes and problems caused by them. The essay concludes that the requirements needed were not always furnished at the time nor in the quantity desired due mainly to the exhaustive and exploratory justification engendered by an innovative and complex data management system as well as the higher priority given to Vietnam nation-building over military considerations.
