South Korea - Yankees Go Home After Twenty Years.

Abstract

An assessment of the impact on US security and military strategy in East Asia of our withdrawal from South Korea reveals that it does not portend a loss of South Korea. Effective regional alliances and the United States can furnish the wherewithal for military modernization and strengthening and continued political, economic, and industrial growth. An urgent need exists for a United States reappraisal of its strategy in East Asia as part of its reappraisal of its role as a Pacific power in the 1970's. (Author)
