Civil Defense: Fact or Fantasy.

Abstract

The essay examines the concept of survival in case of a nuclear war. Consideration was given to present United States policy, cost of civil defense, and 'slanting' of building design to provide the maximum protection against radioactive fallout. A further study was undertaken to assess the number of casualties caused by a nuclear explosion on the core of a city. (Modified author abstract)
