The Temperature/Humidity Recording System -- A User's Guide

Abstract

The document is an instructive guide describing a small lightweight battery-operated tape recording system for gathering data on shipping and storage temperature and humidity conditions within containers. A specialized magnetic tape recorder is used with resistive temperature and humidity sensors to generate hourly outputs that are magnetically stored in two tracks of 1/4- inch (6.35-mm) recording tape by means of a four-channel recording head. A third track is used for recording time reference marks, and the fourth track is available for recording other information. A separate playback deck with means of monitoring the playback signal is used for retrieval of data. Peak amplitudes of playback pulses are proportional to the recorded temperature and humidity values.
