Monte-Carlo Simulation of PD Fuze Function during a Rainstorm,

Abstract

A FORTRAN program is described that simulates a spring-mass type type of PD element (including the wind force) flying through a rainstorm. Statistics for raindrop size and time between raindrop impacts are accurately simulated by Monte Carlo techniques from user-supplied rain data. All basic equations are derived and instructions for using the program are given, together with an example of its use. From preliminary results, it is concluded that the simulation should prove to be a valuable design tool. (Author)
