Investigation of High Temperature Battery Systems.

Abstract

The main objective of this program was the construction and testing of sodium-sulfur cells which would be hermetically sealed and operable at 300C. Intermediate objectives included the evaluation of all proposed materials, seals and construction techniques as to their suitability for the sodium-sulfur system. New sealing methods for making ceramic to metal seals were developed. (Modified author abstract)
