Studies of the Processing and Properties of High Temperature Resin/Graphite Fiber Composites.

Abstract

TURE Resin/Graphite Fiber Composites.Final rept. 9 May 72-8 Nov 73,FSung,Nak-ho ;McGarry,Frederick J. ;DAAG46-72-C-0163DA-1-W-162113-A-660AMMRCCTR-73-31*Composite materials, Polyimide resins, Nitrogen heterocyclic compounds, Graphite, Carbon fibers, Fiber reinforcement, Fibers, Matrix materials, Heat resistant plastics, Fabrication, Mechanical properties, Thermal stability, Laminates, Polymers, Reinforced plasticsPolyquinoxalines, *Graphite reinforced composites, Fiber composites, Carbon fiber reinforced plasticsFabrication characteristics, room temperature mechanical properties, and thermal stabilities of three composite systems were compared based on linear monoether polyphenylquinoxaline (PPQ-O), P13N polyimide and Skybond 703 polyimide, reinforced with Modmor II graphite fibers. Fabrication parameters and prepreg conditions were related to the properties of the laminates fabricated. Interlaminate shear strength, flexural strength and moduli of laminates were evaluated at room temperature. (Author, modified-PL)
