Rates and Mechanisms of Reaction of Fluorine Containing Rocket Propellants.

Abstract

The study of the rate of the H2-OF2 reaction was continued using a magnesium reactor. The surface contributions to the rate in this reactor were significantly reduced and were considered insignificant. The order of the fully inhibited reaction was reasonably well established as first for OF2 and zero for H2; the data for the uninhibited reaction was less conclusive. A mechanism was proposed which appeared consistent with both sets of conditions. (Author)
