Perturbation of a Synchronous Satellite Due to Geopotential.

Abstract

The note summarizes the secular perturbation of a synchronous satellite orbit due to geopotential. The effect of eccentricity and inclination of the orbit is taken into account. It is shown that the secular perturbation of a synchronous satellite like LES-8/9 in the ecliptic plane is about 8 percent smaller than a geostationary satellite. (Author)
