Synthese et Evaluation de Triisocyanates Polymeriques Dan les Liants et Propergols Solides. (Synthesis and Evaluation of Triisocyanate Polymers in Propellant Binders and Solid Propellants),

Abstract

Triisocyanates were isolated in two ways: first, by the reaction of an excess of diisocyanates on several triols, and secondly, by molecular distillation of commercial isocyanates. No improvement was observed in the mechanical properties of propellants or propellant binders made from these triisocyanates and hydroxyl-terminated polybutadienes compared to those made from mixtures of triols and diisocyanates. The mechanical properties of polybutadiene propellant binders are improved by the addition of small amounts of low molecular weight diols to hydroxyl-terminated polybutadienes (PBBO and R45M). There is a change in the mechanical properties of R45M and PBBO binders with the variation in the structure of isocyanates. (Author)
