Development of the MESA Spectroscopy Experiment.

Abstract

A spatially, spectrally, rapidly scanning spectrograph has been constructed for the study of specific properties of the supersonic free jet of a continuous HF chemical laser. The spontaneous emission from the HF 3 to 0 band is monitored. Details of the construction, spectroscopic theory, and data reduction nomograph are discussed. Effects of a nonuniform radiating gas are considered. Sample data are exhibited. (Author)
