NAVAIRDEVCEN Graphite-Epoxy Composite Wing for BQM-34E: Aeroelastic Analysis.

Abstract

The final aeroelastic analysis of the NAVAIRDEVCEN (Naval Air Development Center) ADVANCED GRAPHITE-EPOXY COMPOSITE 5-G WING FOR THE UNMANNED SUPERSONIC BQM-34E aerial target vehicle is presented. This wing development includes design, analysis, fabrication and ground testing which comprise dynamic and static analyses, flutter analysis, static aeroelastic data, the general arrangement of the sub-ject vehicle, and a description of the design- analysis approach for strength and flutter. It was found that the subject wing is flutter free within the required 15 percent margin flight envelope, is divergent free within the flight regime, and has a forward shift of aerodynamic center of .0632c due to elastic effects.
