Prediction Calculations for the Mixed Company III Event.

Abstract

Mixed Company III is a surface tangent burst of 500 tons of TNT conducted November 13, 1972 at Grand Junction, Colorado. The site geology consists of a layer of clayey silt approximately five feet thick over layers of sandstone resting on granite bedrock. The primary objective of Shock Hydrodynamics' effort in support of the Mixed Company program was the preshot calculation of the cratering and ejecta phenomena accompanying this shot. The calculation and comparison of predicted ground motion at points selected to correspond to field measurement stations was another objective.
