Glass Fracture Chemistry.

Abstract

The report summarizes results of research carried out under the Contract. Topics discussed include (1) the provision of evidence for a direct correlation between environment-sensitive surface potential and the mobility of near-surface dislocations in MgO, (2) chemomechanical control of sliding friction behavior in MgO and soda lime glass, (3) the role of environment-dependent surface potential in determining the propagation behavior of sub-critical cracks in soda lime glass. Technical reports and publications resulting from this contract also are listed. (Modified author abstract)
