Evaluation of Runway Skid-Resistance Characteristic at Royal Air Force Woodbridge, England.

Abstract

Data gathered during the Air Force Weapons Laboratory's standard skid-resistance test conducted at Royal Air Force (RAF) Woodbridge, England, on 26 November 1972 are analyzed. The test results indicate the runway surface at RAF Woodbridge had generally good skid-resistance properties, and no corrective action was indicated at the time of the test. Because the measured stopping-distance ratios put the runway surface at the edge of the range for good skid-resistance properties, the runway surface should be retested in approximately 18 months.
