Evaluation of the Dow 17 Treatment for Magnesium Alloys

Abstract

The purpose of this investigation was to study the Dow 17 process and evaluate the coating in comparison with equivalent currently used pretreatments. The following main areas were investigated: Investigation of operating parameters of the Dow 17 bath; comparison of Dow 17 treatments with the DTD 911C required pretreatment; Comparison of various currently used protective systems based on Dow 17 with DTD 911C procedure; comparison of fatigue properties after Dow 17 treatments.
