Noise Reduction in Hydraulic Systems.

Abstract

A preliminary investigation of noise in hydraulic systems was undertaken in order to determine causes and methods for reduction of noise. A method for predicting the sound pressure level associated with fluid pumping was achieved. Predictions made by this method agreed with experimental measurements made on a representative hydraulic system developed for this research. It is recommended that the calculation method be extended to include all types of pumps and piping arrangements found in hydraulic systems and that the experimental apparatus be modified to further test predicted results.
