The Dynamic Response of a Prolate Spheroidal Shell Submerged in an Acoustic Medium,

Abstract

A finite difference solution to the problem of the dynamic response of a spheroidal shell, based on Sander's theory, surrounded by an acoustic medium has been formulated for arbitrary loading in terms of time and space. The solution is based on a technique for introducing acoustic shell interaction effects into a program for the response of the shell in vacuo, which may be applied to a wide variety of such programs with a minimum of reprogramming. Numerical results or the sphere and spheroid demonstrate the validity of the approach.
