British Medical Research Council's Report 1972-1973,

Abstract

The report provides an overview of some of the ongoing investigative activities in the United Kingdom. The total expenditure of Medical Research Council for 1971-72 was roughly 62.5 million dollars; this amount was increased to around 71 million during 1972-73. About half of the support was given in 5 of 16 disease categories which include infective and parasitic diseases (25), neoplasma (21), endocrine, nutritional and metabolic (18), mental disorders (21) and diseases of the nervous system and sense organs (24).
