Some Considerations of the Melting of Reactor Fuel Plates and Rods.

Abstract

A preliminary analysis is presented of the gross melting of fuel plates and rods. Estimates are obtained of the extent of melting and of the rapidity with which it occurs. Analytical short-time solutions are obtained by the embedding technique. The effect of density changes are investigated. Approximate analytical long-time solutions are constructed, and the results are presented in a series of graphs. (Modified author abstract)
