Cooperative Radiation Effects Simulation Program.

Abstract

The report describes progress in: (1) developing the NRL Code E-DEP-1 for energy deposition by heavy ions, (2) modifying the Manning and Pagett transport theory for the penetration of heavy ions near the surface, (3) an investigation of the total crosssection corresponding to the differential cross section of Lindhard, Nielsen, and Scharaff, (4) an investigation of the temperature dependence of nickel-ion damage in nickel, (5) a study of the flux (dose rate) effects for 2.8 MeV 58Ni(+) irradiations of pure nickel, (6) studies of helium mobility in metals, (7) the cyclotron helium implantation facility, and (8) the effect of cyclotron implanted helium on the fatigue behavior and microstructure of 316 stainless steel at 650C.
