The Mechanical Behavior of Metal Matrix Composites.

Abstract

A study of certain factors influencing tensile, fatigue, and creep behavior in B-Al and B/SiC-Ti composite materials was performed. The effects of controlled composite imperfections (including filament spacing defects, aligned filament breakage, and improper fiber-matrix bond condition) on tensile and fatigue behavior were investigated. Fatigue behavior of B/SiC-Ti was studied for a variety of loading conditions. (Modified author abstract)
