Tropical Analysis Model.

Abstract

The AFGWC objective tropical computer analysis programs produce gridded surface pressure and temperature analyses, gridded computed temperature and D-values fields for 1000MB, temperature-dewpoint spread analyses 850-400MB, and temperature, wind and D-value analyses 850-100MB. First guess fields are derived from forecast/persistence. Validated observations are used to correct the first guess fields in the analysis. A special technique is used to insure vertical consistency. (Author)
