Worldwide Distribution of Mean Monthly Dewpoint.

Abstract

Twelve maps showing the global distribution of mean surface dewpoint temperatures for each month of the year are presented as a representative sampling of mean dewpoint seasonality as it occurs at the standard surface level in the various regions of the world. The maps and graphs demonstrate that the distributional characteristics of mean dewpoint are shaped for the most part by air temperature, distance from and degree of exposure to moisture sources, and the depressing effects of elevation. The effectiveness of such controls is particularly evident in the conditions portrayed for the extreme months, namely January and July. (Author)
