The Military Implications of the Super Tanker and the Proposed Super Cargo Ship.

Abstract

The essay considers the economic feasibility of super tankers and super cargo ships to fulfill military requirements. In addition, the capabilities and limitations of these vessels are weighed against smaller, more conventional vessels. Conclusions based upon current trends, indicate that the super tanker will play a limited roll in future military operations; however, the super cargo ship (in the form of a giant barge ship) may very well meet many future military logistical requirements.
