Experimental Study of Vortices Generated by Oscillatory Flow over Rippled Surfaces.
Abstract
Vortices generated by oscillatory flow over asymmetrical and symmetrical ripples have been investigated. The vortices over asymmetrical ripples were investigated to study the possibility of using such ripple forms to control the direction of sand movement in the nearshore zone. The vortices over symmetrical ripples were investigated to ascertain the amount of wave energy loss that could be attributed to the formation of vortices. (Modified author abstract)
