Synthesis of Closo-1,7-B10C2H12 from Nido-2-B5CH9.

Abstract

The pyrolysis of 2-B5CH9 produced the higher carborane species 1,7-B6C2H8, 1, 7-B10C2H12 and 1, 3-B7C2H13. Pyrolysis of 3-CH3-B5CH8 produced B-methylated 1,6-B8C2H8(CH3)2. Possible mechanisms of this reaction are discussed. (Modified author abstract)
