Will the Nixon Doctrine Work in Thailand.

Abstract

The essay examines whether or not the Nixon Doctrine will work in Thailand. Thailand is faced with a growing Maoist insurgency, and the threat of Communist proxy invasion from Laos and Cambodia. In this environment Thailand seeks economic growth, social progress, and expanded democracy while struggling with her security and calculating the Asian power structure. (Modified author abstract)
