Low-Frequency Propagation in the Composite Region of a Wedge and Two Parallel Plates.

Abstract

Wave propagation in the composite region of a wedge which leads into a duct was considered where mixed boundary conditions were imposed. The problem was reformulated as an integral equation where, instead of the free-space Green's function being used as the Kernel function, the Green's function for the wedge region was used. This permitted considerable simplification, and a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind was obtained where the region of integration is merely a plane and is valid for any value of the wave number. For small values of the wave number the boundary integral equation may be solved iteratively, and the solution is given as a Neumann series. (Author)
