Omega Navigation Set AN/ARN-99 (XN-2).

Abstract

The report documents the signal processing hardware (1) as an overview of functional characteristics, (2) in terms of signal processing and filtering dynamics, and (3) in terms of electrical design and mechanical construction. The hardware so described includes the Antenna/Coupler, the three-channel OMEGA Receiver, and the Control-Indicator Panel. The computer software, which performs the major processing tasks of automatic synchronization at turn-on, continuous signal tracking and Kalman filtering, propagation prediction and global navigation, is described in flow diagrams and by the basic mechanization equations from which the software programs were derived. The software control of the receiver hardware by the functions of antenna switching, self test and system calibration during interburst periods is similarly treated, as are the Control and Indicator input/output procedures.
