Theoretical Studies of High-Power Infrared Window Materials

Abstract

Contents: Extrinsic absorption; very high-intensity effects; high- power 2-6 micrometer and 10.6 micrometer window-material figures of merit with edge cooling and surface absorption included; explicit exponential frequency dependence of multiphonon infrared absorption; quasiselection rule for infrared absorption by NaCl-structure crystals; the absorption coefficient of alkali halides in the multiphonon regime: effects of nonlinear dipole moments; vertex corrections for multiphonon absorption; and, negligible effects.
